I heart Spark...and Merlin Mann
Just in case you've never heard of Spark, it's a weekly 30-minute CBC radio show (and podcast, of course) about technology and culture. Starting this week, I'm doing a regular (when I'm in Canada) 2-minute audio column for them where I answer your tech questions. This week I talked about why Canadians can't see most American TV shows online (big thx to Michael Geist for his help on this). The Spark team has asked that folks post questions on their blog (e.g. What is DVD-RAM and why do technohippies like it? -Andy).
Next show I plan to answer this question, What is net neutrality and how do I get me some? OK, I might improve the wording a little ;). Hope you enjoy this week's show (which includes my favourite Mann)!

@Amber, How comes your only going to be doing this segment when in Canada? As this week segment wasn't a two way conversation with the host couldn't you just record it where every you where, Florida, SanFran, Brisbane etc? As long as you said at the start where you recorded the segment from would people mind if the sound quality wasn't 100 per cent? This weeks show had Theresa Shenft talking via a really bad quality connection, which was fine as the segment was interesting, also you could hear the compression when Michael Sikorsky was talking before you, but again not a problem because in was interesting. The quality of any 'on the road' recording that you do would sound better than either of those two, so wouldn't be a problem. Just don't want to miss out on hearing you for a week. Or have you already pre-recorded the segment for next week? Great segment this week, Have a safe trip to Aus. L&L

Amber Mac and Nora Young on the same show? Be still my wildly palpitating heart... I've loved Nora since the days of DNTO. I love Spark, too.

Too funny, stumbled on your blog, thru another blog, which I found thru the Flock blog... anyways, I listen to Spark, but had not downloaded episode 31 - so going and doing that now... because I have been frustrated too that we can't watch the american tv shows too, not fair! I look forward to checking back in. PS - is there any online tv site where I can watch shows? like enough of them to make it worth me installing the program on my computer that is? Since we only have three channels on our real tv as we live rurally... I'd love it if you had any suggestions.
